Politics

Welcome to the Politics section! Here you’ll find all the latest polls, my predictions, opinion blog posts, and daily political news.

In the Polls/Predictions tab, you’ll find trustworthy polls for all major races, including Senate races, Presidential races, and generic ballot polls. You’ll also find what I, personally, predict the outcome to be on most Senate races, the House majority, and the Presidency.

In the Opinion tab, you’ll find blog posts with my personal opinion about whatever is going on currently in politics.

In the News tab, you’ll find a daily summary of the political news, with links to major articles.

On this page, you’ll find the makeup of the current Congress, how to find your Representatives, how to contact your Senators and Representatives, and my ideas for a New Government.

Current Congress (115th)

House of Representatives: Republican Majority

240 Republicans – 193 Democrats – 2 Vacant (Graphic does not show most recent vacancy, a Democrat vacancy.)

Senate: Republican Majority

52 Republicans – 46 Democrats – 2 Independents (Caucusing with Democrats)

How to find your Representatives

There are 435 members of the House of Representatives. That means you are living in 1 of 435 Congressional districts. Chances are, you don’t know which district you live in. Luckily, you can find out. Simply go here, and then enter your Zip Code. Click “Find Your Rep” and your Representative will be presented. If your Zip Code has multiple possible Representatives (this is common near larger cities), then you will have to input your specific address.

A New Government

The current United States Government needs a lot of changes and improvements. Here are my ideas for building a New Government.

Main Focuses:

  • Replace the Electoral College with a ranked voting popular vote.
  • Remove term limits for Presidents
  • Form a transparent government*
  • Make the Senate more representative of populations
  • Ban all partisan gerrymandering

*This is quite possibly the biggest change listed, as it involves multiple major changes in the government.

1. Replace the Electoral College with a ranked voting popular vote.

There are many reasons to abolish the Electoral College. FINISH
